The Role of Private Philanthropy in Economic Development: The Callaway/LaGrange Partnership

When: Wednesday, June 28, 10:00am – 1:30pm
Location: Callaway Foundation and other sites around LaGrange, Georgia

In the past 10 years, the Callaway Foundation has invested more than $50 million in its hometown of La Grange, Georgia. Working closely with their downtown development authority and chamber of commerce, the foundation has built a new conference center, attracted major industry, and diversified its housing stock.

Our colleague Speer Burdette, president of the Callaway Foundation, has generously agreed to host our 2017 GGA Site Visit and show us around his fair city. We'll do a walking tour downtown and then head to the nearby Hills and Dales Estate, the magnificent former home of the Callaway family, for lunch and discussion.
