Public policy advocacy is essential to ensuring philanthropy’s ability to effectively address needs in communities throughout the Southeast and the country. While SECF encourages members to advocate on behalf of the sector all year – particularly through our Policy In Action suite of programs – concerted action by the entire sector is still critical.

Foundations on the Hill, hosted by the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers in partnership with the Council on Foundations, is an annual two-day event built around face-to-face meetings with federal lawmakers and their staff members. Hundreds of grantmakers from across the country converge on Washington, DC, to educate lawmakers on the work being done in their state or district, defend the sector’s existence and promote legislation that improves the ability of foundations to make a difference.

SECF prides itself on regularly sending one of the largest delegations in the country to FOTH. If you’re interested in being part of our next delegation, or have other questions about FOTH, please contact Matthew L. Evans, SECF's Director of Public Policy & Special Projects.
